The key word in this study is not sex but addiction; As defined by Webster: Addiction is a persistent, compulsive dependence on a behavior or substance. The term has been partially replaced by the word dependence for substance abuse. Addiction has been extended, however, to include mood-altering behaviors or activities. Some researchers speak of two types of addictions: substance addictions (for example, alcoholism, drug abuse, and smoking); and process addictions (for example, gambling, spending, shopping, eating, and sexual activity). There is a growing recognition that many addicts, such as polydrug abusers, are addicted to more than one substance or process. All these addictions are believed to be controlled or driven by a spirit attached to them that make them so enabling or prevalent. Each addiction has to be broken in the same way by removing the spirit that controls or holds the addiction to the person. It was ushered in and hold them captive to the desire or abuse (abnormal use) of the substance or process. I believe the Bible is clear that all things in proportion or that we should live a life of moderation. For there can be excess of sex, even in marriage. The sexual addiction would lead to more sex than can be tolerated by the spouse and thus create other issues. The one addicted to sex will have a sex fixation that drives most of their thinking. If sex is held in proper proportion all things will work fine, but when a sexual addiction comes in it removes that which makes it special and it becomes an abusive struggle that can break down the fabric for which it was intended. It will open the door to other abuses or addictions which will drive a deeper shame and guilt when exposed by those who do not wish to have it.
