Typically, the Advent season is one of reflection and introspection as we enter the season celebrating Christ's birth. To my knowledge, it's practice is not specifically mentioned in the bible (correct me if I am wrong), but just as lent is a helpful practice to prepare our hearts for Easter, Advent is one that the Lord can use to prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of Christ. It is to both remind us of our need for such a savior, and to rejoice in the fact that we have such a savior-- a cause for celebration, indeed. Because of this, reading devotionals especially for the Advent season are helpful, as well as setting aside time to pray, meditate on God's word, and to reflect-- all these things are great practices to help you celebrate the real reason for Christmas. One great online devotional community I'm apart of is She Reads Truth (SheReadsTruth.com), which put out an Advent study last year (and, as far as I know, is putting on a new one this year). There are plenty of great online and book-form devotionals out there, and I encourage you to pray and search for one. Again, Advent is not a mandatory biblical practice by any means, but can really bless your walk with the Lord. Whatever you decide to do, I'm praying you'll be blessed!
