God hates sin because it is the very antithesis of His nature. The psalmist describes God's hatred of sin this way: "For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; no evil dwells with You"...

Because God loved and blessed man, who was created as an image of God, (Genesis 1: 27-28), the fruits of violating/betraying God's love is a sin. This has separated God and man, and the wages of a sin is death, but the love of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6: 23).

Hate is just another side of love of the same coin; if our love one is betraying us, we hate him/her although we still love him/her and look forward for reconcilliation as God has done to us (John 3: 16-21).
