He is for me when I can not stand, when I need direction he is my counselor when I am sad He is my comforter. When I am sick he is my healer, when I lack he is my provider.

Before I met Him I was weak minded and followed the crowd I sought approval from people of the baser sort. I served my self, I saw things as a user and not as contributor. I was prone to violence and vengeance never forgiving, I sought only self gratification. So yeah He is my crutch He keeps me from falling back into my old ways.
He is my crutch, my rock my high tower, glory praise and honor to Him. If there was ever any thing I could pass on now that I am old it is this seek Him out, cling to Him early, never let go, do not be afraid of what the majority thinks He is the beginning and the end.

He has been at the root of all good in my life, leaning on myself was the cause of much evil, pain and heartache. Seek Him, seek Him, seek Him, seek Him like treasure, seek Him early, this is something you will never regret. Maranatha

Those who say faith is a crutch assume that the crutch is their faith. Life is full of assumptions. Even the scientific theories are based on assumptions. And surprisingly, there is nothing absolute in the science. All measurements in science are relative.

Now coming to the Biblical view of faith the Bible says one who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (please see Hebrews 11:6). And this verse says that without faith, it is impossible to please God.

We have to understand three fundamental aspects of Biblical faith which is based on revelation from God. Firstly we must put God & Lord Jesus Christ as our object of faith (Please read Mark 11:22 & John 14:1).

Secondly, one must understand the Biblical definition of faith found in Hebrews 11:1 which says faith is the substance of the the things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.

Thirdly, faith is not self will, or intuition or even an inborn quality of an individual, but it can be acquired by hearing God's word as we read in Romans 10:17 which says -'faith comes and it comes by hearing the word of God' or word of Christ (It depends which version of Bible one is using but it means one and the same).

Lastly, I would like to say that those people who dismiss the existence of God the Bible calls them fools - Please see Psalm 14:1. All our logic and intelligent arguments would give us company till we die but our faith in God/Lord Jesus Christ will give us eternal life. Let us not forget the warning of the Bible recorded in Hebrews 9:27 which says it is appointed for men once to die but after that the judgement.

Therefore the Christian faith is not a crutch it brings you to a living relationship with the true and the living eternal and Almighty God. I can add my testimony that ever since the day I assumed in this God and put my trust in Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord life has been different. There have been severe trials in my life, sickness, financial problems, and struggles of life, but so far God has not disappointed me. I have a hope and that is propelling me forward spiritually.

So try this 'Christian crutch' if you want to so name it and taste and see that The Lord is Good.

Yes, faith is God is a crutch, it helps weak people in navigate their way through life. I think the Bible is quite clear that it is a crutch, it is an aid in living a difficult life, it is much easier to have a moral compass written in one book than have to figure it out for one's self (for fundamentalists, liberal Christians do a lot more working out of their faith, I think). But it is not just a crutch, for some people it is a springboard, others a source of courage, for others it asks them to be courageous, and demands courage. And what is wrong with crutches, anyway?

Is Faith in God a crutch? I would ask what is the crutch that those who say this is talking about?

Hebrews 11:1, says what Faith is according to the person who wrote Hebrews. Now I would ask would I rather believe something stated by this writer or what any who ask the question.

As for me, I have Faith that my Hope is in the assurance of what I Hope for and it is Evidence to me of things I don't see with eyes of flesh but with eyes of Spirit, Mind, and Belief.

Has what Freud, Ventura, Turner, and all others who believe my Faith is my Crutch for coping with Life ever presented anything I would rather believe in? NO!

So until they disprove God, which they can't, I'll continue to believe in God's Word and let every man be a liar.Romans 3:3-4.

These three men Ventura, Larry Flynt and Ted Turner are wealthy men whose crutch in life is status and wealth.

In Matthew 19:16-21 when Jesus was speaking to the Rich Young Man and told him that he must do something more and - sell everything and give to the poor, he exposed the young mans weakness. In reality, his wealth was his god, his idol, and he would not give it up.

In Matthew 19:23 Jesus told his disciples that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 6:19-24 says No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

The comments of those men indicate that their crutch in life is Money and that they despise those that serve the Lord. They are on the wide broad road, not on the narrow road that leads to eternal life Matthew 7:13.

I wonder how emotionally feeble they would be if they lost their money and status but Christians who trust in the Lord are upheld by his Holy Spirit through all the seasons of their lives.
