As usual, Michael has given a very good and comprehensive answer to this question. My answer was included in his answer but I want to expound on it and hope that by doing so to answer the "how" part more specifically. My advice is to pray. But don't just ask God to help you forgive the one who betrayed you (though that is important) but go a step farther and ask God to bless the person who betrayed you. I believe that when you chose to pray this prayer sincerely and continue to do so until you feel it with all your heart, God will honor this prayer by first healing you thereby blessing them. Don't expect to be able to pray this prayer once and supernaturally all at once all feelings of betrayal disappear, however, even though with God that is possible. I believe God uses the process to complete the healing in you and that process takes "praying it through". There is something about praying for someone that builds Love in you for that person and Love is the real healer. (Yes I capitalized Love on purpose because God provides that Love). Therein lies the "how" that feels so impossible now. So at every opportunity for the next "however long it takes", pray for God to bless that person. You might just be surprised at how easy and quick the answer will come. Every time that you feel that memory or though of betrayal quickly replace it with the prayer of blessing.
Even Jesus was betrayed. Remember? He forgave. It is hard to forgive if someone hurts us but it is even harder to carry it around like a weight, weighing you down with grief and ache. That was not someone good for you.
