I have seen yoga classes offered at Christian churches. This seems dangerous to me.

The answer is a BIG 'NO'. Yoga is called meditation. It calls us to be lazy with idle mind. Then they ask you utter the meaningless slogans to invite satan or demons into your mind. The idle mind is the workshop of the devil. When the mind is empty, demons rush to occupy it (Mt 12:43-45). It is a kind of mind-control of the satan or demons. Yoga means – Yoke. It yields her or him to the bondage of satan or demon. Most of the people don’t know is that you are actually being yoked to Hindu false god which are satanic or demonic! Yoga was created by Hindus that worship literally thousands of false gods otherwise known as demons. The poses are actually worship poses to different Hindu false gods! Most are very naive about what they are doing and of course most aren’t being told about this. I’m sure most people that consider themselves Christians would never want to yoke themselves to Hindu demons but that’s exactly what they are doing if they do Yoga. It was created to do this! There is of course only ONE God in three persons. The God that brought Moses out of slavery/bondage of Egypt – the God that created the whole world and the universe! If anybody talks about other “gods” then they are in fact talking about false gods - fallen angels or demons. Demons are absolutely real and they do have power but anybody that has given their life to Jesus Christ cannot be harmed by these demons. If you are doing Yoga right now then you owe it to yourself. Kundalini yoga experts claim that they can walk on water just like Jesus walked on sea. But kundalini a yoga is satanic or demonic. Satan doesn’t show up with a black cape and a pitchfork, he comes at you with things that might seem completely innocent at first. I’m sure some of you are saying to yourself that Yoga is just good exercise but if you are saying that to yourself, you’d be dead wrong. It is too dangerous. You are playing with your soul. Do you want to risk your eternal soul without learning more? Abstain from yoga. Read the Bible and fill your heart with the Scripture (Psa 119:11). As much as you sleep during the night, you must work during the day. Get actively involved in gardening, jogging, games, etc. To keep yourself FIT.
The thing about yoga is, it is a practice that is supposed to align and atune your body to the earth, which, in turn connects you more to the gods they worshipped. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. Christ is about our spirits and our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost....giving them over to unknown gods means you are selling your soul to the devil yoga class by yoga class. Think that is too out-there a statement to make? "Yoga (/ˈjoʊɡə/; Sanskrit: योग, Listen) is an Indian physical, mental, and spiritual practice or discipline. There is a broad variety of schools, practices and goals[1] in Hinduism, Buddhism (including Vajrayana and Tibetan Buddhism[2][3][4]) and Jainism.[5][6][7][6] The best-known are Hatha yoga and Raja yoga." Blind Christians wearing yoga pants (very revealing) and going to yoga classes (practising a religion) are becoming of the world not just in it. The world is after you. Satan is after you...even Jesus called satan the prince of the earth! You need to wise UP to the wiles and ways of the evil one... for he uses everything at his disposal... Darwin and Oprah and Eckhardt Tolle, new age, music, film, fashion....remember when they said rock and roll was the devil's music? I'm old enough to remember that and to have seen the changes from then to now in the world and in music and fashion and i conclude that whomever said it.... was RIGHT. So yeah... what my brother said... what's next? Christian porn, Christian cigarettes, Christian yoga, Christian heavy metal music, single Christian sex, Christian acceptance of gay marriage.... BEWARE. Snakes lurk and hide in unseen places and have a nasty bite, and satan goes to church every Sunday too. In or out of the church - whether it be the building or the people - practising yoga is a religion and doing so is an act against God because of it's design. Go swimming instead! Blessings, in HIM, Lynn Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Well it depends on when and where the Yoga classes are being held. There is no significance to the building itself. Therefore, having classes or partaking in the classes located at a place of worship is not an issue. However, Yoga classes during worship or as a form of worship goes against the Biblical example of worship. Today some people worship The Lord in their homes as they did in the early years of the New Testament Church. There was no prohibition for their assembly at that time. If past activities in the building or place of worship are a factor for worthy worship the home would likely be the last place one could hold a worship service. Today many people say they are going to church. What they mean to say is they are going to Worship or Bible Study. Maybe it can be looked at like this, we are going to be with the Church. The members are the Church, the building is not the Church. We can choose to assemble and worship any where as long as it is decent and in order.
Yoga has become mainstream in America and is often seen purely as a form of exercise and relaxation. In fact, however, it is a religion and the stretches are part of its religious practice. I think that the words "sun salutation" alone should set off warning alarms to Christians. We are warned a number of times in the Bible to watch, be alert, look sharp. Because America has been largely a Christian culture, we think that everything that comes to us is good and from people who have good will toward us. But the Bible says that our true situation, even in America, is that we are constantly being stalked by an enemy who seeks to devour us. We need to look more deeply into the nature of every single thing we do and the people we meet, asking where it truly comes from and what is its intent toward us, and be on our guard. Wikipedia states that the object of yoga is to awaken a coiled serpent that sleeps at the base of our spine and allow it to travel all the way up to our mind (see Wiki article: Kundalini). There is no secret about this...except maybe at the gym. If that doesn't sound creepy enough just by itself, think if you recognize that so-called sleeping serpent as a character from the Garden of Eden. You may take both characters literally and do well to steer clear. I say all of this as one who works out and who considered yoga some years ago. I actually bought a yoga workout video, but the Lord made me return it and prompted me to look more deeply into it, which is how I found the Wiki article. I was very disappointed, because stretching is extremely healthy and an excellent stress release (and, you know, the videos look so clean, peaceful, healthy, and harmonious), but He led me to a stretching DVD that is not at all religious in nature, and I've been using it for years. So if you think that you can't do without the calm that comes from stretching, I highly recommend finding a non-religious form. (I use Stretching by Jacques Gauthier and Dorothee LaVoie, but this is not a promo for them. I don't know if they are Christian, nor what other things they might be into, but this DVD is clean.) So, no, I don't believe that yoga should be offered by the church, nor practiced by Christians. People simply don't realize what they are dealing with. Or, rather, some don't know and some don't want to know, wanting to follow popular culture at cost of faith.
Let's offer Christian cigarettes, Christian porn, Christian tattoos...then Christian yoga will be acceptable. Yoga has its origins in mid-Eastern mysticism. The entire purpose of yoga and meditation is to worship false gods. One can relabel yoga just like anything else, but it is still wrong. Does it glorify God? Does it propagate the Gospel? Does it honor Christ? Does it compel the people to focus on Christ alone? We must stand firm against this sort of deception. We must separate ourselves from the world and its practices. The only reason why we have yoga and meditation in the churches is because people are seeking a feeling or an experience. The Christian cannot allow himself to be ruled by his emotions, otherwise he will be led into trap after trap. Stay away from it at all costs. Or you could do an experiment. Take some godly, glorifying hymn music and ask if they would play it at the session. Or offer to read Scripture in the session and use the name of Jesus Christ the Son of God a lot...I can guarantee, it won't be allowed...
Before I knew anything about Yoga, I loved stretching and remembered doing it regularly as a kid. All by myself. No TV. In silence or with music. I just loved to stretch! Then I saw yoga on TV, one day as an adult. Can you believe my joy! This art of stretching the body to relieve tension in joints and muscles, develop strength and balance in the body....and what is so wrong with that? I worship one true God, creator of heaven and earth, father of Jesus Christ! And as I meditate while doing Yoga I find myself praying (giving thanks and praise to God), singing hymns or praise songs, and reflecting on scriptures. This is irregardless of who is teaching the class. If that instructor praises the sun, rest assured I'm praising my God (who creates all things, father of Jesus Christ:) for the sun. As well I should, the sun is vital to life! Yoga, which could also be called stretching, is a fitness concept for the mind and body and has healing effects. One person referenced cigarettes, which we all know is harmful to the body in more ways than one, and porn which is sexual immorality. I don't think Yoga can be likened to these. Stand on his Holy word and He will direct your path. If as a Christian, you feel that yoga or stretching takes away the glory from God, then I encourage you to ABSOLUTELY refrain from it. As for me, I will continue to bless the Lord at all times, his praise will forever be on my lips.... Psalms 34:1....even whilst doing yoga, also referred to as stretching :) Blessings!
