What is the meaning of the Parable of the Arrogant guest?
Luke 14:7 - 11
ESV - 7 Now he told a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the places of honor, saying to them. 8 When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in a place of honor, lest someone more distinguished than you be invited by him.

I believe this is all about remembering that we are all equally sinners. God loves every believer and non-believer. We should never consider ourselves better than anyone else. I think of the attitude of the Pharisees. In 1Samuel 2:2,3; "There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside You: neither is there any rock like our God. Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogance come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed." Proverbs 6:13 "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, and the disobedient mouth, do I hate." Proverbs16:18, "Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." I believe that if we consider pride, we find that it is a building block to many, if not all other sins. I think it much better to show, and mean humility. If God chooses to elevate my place, all praise and glory to Him. As for me, I am just glad to be invited!
