Romans 3:23 says "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" https://ebible.com/nlt/romans/3?focus_verse=45003023#6384 God is the creator of everything. The only reason we exist is because it makes him pleased that we exist. He's so powerful and so perfect, when we don't do what he wants, he will just crush us like bugs. We live on earth for a while, but then God will throw us in hell for our sins. Jesus says to fear God in Luke 12:5 because he can throw us into hell: https://ebible.com/nlt/section/1855?focus_verse=42012005#5920 The bottom line is if we don't obey God and do rightly God will throw us into hell. Yet as the bible says, we all fall short of God's glory, and we all sin, and so God would punish us, were it not for Jesus. I used to have trouble understanding why God would throw people in hell. I mean, we aren't that bad it seems. But the reality is that the only reason we exist is for his good pleasure - and when we sin, we make a mockery of his creation. He's all-powerful, all-holy, and when compared to him, even the slightest impurity in us is massively below his standards. That's why we need a savior, someone who can interact with God. He's to big and holy for us otherwise, and we'd just get punished by God.
God, the creator of the universe is a Holy, Holy, Holy God. He will not tolerate other gods because He is the creator of all things seen and unseen. He made man in His image and gave him a free Will. He placed man in a garden in a world specifically made for him. He let man name all animals of His creation. Then He gave man a mate so he wouldn't be lonely. God gave man instructions on what not to eat in that garden. Man was deceived by an angel that had fallen from God's grace because He had rebelled against God. Even though He was created by God, he wanted to be God. He also wanted to destroy the man that God had created. Man disobeyed God and ate from a tree that God had told Him not to eat from. The tree from which he ate was the tree that would give him knowledge of good and evil. Because of the disobedience God banned mankind from the garden and put restrictions on them. Now people had to work, make their own living and sacrifies to God, the blood of animals, to make atonement for disobedience which is called SIN. In order for man to be able to stand in the presence of God again and get back in His good grace, God needed to send a holy man or second Adam to bridge God to man. So God sent His Son Jesus Christ to be that bridge between Man and God. Jesus Christ was sent to earth as a baby born by the Holy Spirit to a woman named Mary and born in Bethlehem of Judea in a holy land that God gave to Abraham and his chosen people that would bring all men back to God, the creator of all things. God gave His chosen people rules to live by on the earth, but no one could keep them completely, so they all would SIN and come short of God's Glory. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the perfect man was sent by God to be the bridge between God and man. Jesus presented Himself to man as that bridge between God and man, but was rejected by man. Man was expecting someone with power that would make the Chosen people rule over all other people on earth. Jesus was crucified as a lamb on a cross and and died. In His death and God's plan, Jesus died for all men and for all the sins ever committed in their life. The only expectation that God required was that man would accept His Son as their Savior and obey the message that He brought from His Father from heaven. We needed a Savior in order to have eternal life provided from God by His Son Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and only through Him can we stand in front of the Holy, Holy, Holy God that created us and undo the SIN that man did in the garden. This is just the tip of the iceberg in trying to explain the need for Salvation from God. The Holy Bible provided to man through God's Holy Spirit has all the Truths to find that Salvation through Jesus Christ and all the Books point to God's Son as the Savior of all men. If you do not know the only Savior to Eternal Life, get to know Jesus Christ because the Bible also tells of the destruction of evil and those that don't accept Him as Lord and Savior, which is called the Judgement at the end of this life as we know it at the end before God's final judgement of all His Creation. Those who accept His Son, accept God His Father and God's Spirit, the Holy Spirit, because the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are one, the Almighty God of the Universe.
