In his 2008 film "Religulous," Bill Maher makes the argument that belief in God is ridiculous. The term "religulous" is a combination of the words "religion" and "ridiculous." Maher's main goal wit...

First of all let me explain my concept and thinking about religion and being religious
Religion is man made and being religious is the one who follows certain principles and doctrines of a particular religion.

Christianity is not a religion at all. It is a relationship between God and man. When God created man,He wanted to have a relationship,an everlasting relationship. Once Adam and Eve committed sin, they
lost that relationship. But God had a plan to restore the relationship. For that He sent His begotten Son to this world not to perish but to have everlasting life(Jn3:17)

Religion is man made for his survival in this world. In fact this is devil's work to create hatred among men.
Faith is a free gift from God. It has no relationship with man made religion or being religious

Religion is main cause of destruction of this world. Religion is man made but faith is God made. Faith is always God's work in you. Our believing has eternal meaning.Faith is something that transfers to you through the grace of God

Once you have faith in God religion or being religious have no place to play in you. The faith is to love God love people and serve the world.

There's a prayer that addresses this question, "Lord, please save us from religion".

Over a long period of time the Sanhedrin amalgamated the Mosaic Law, to the point where Jesus would look strait at them and say "in your Law, does it not say"......

The Divine was not separating itself from the Law given to Moses, but from their reprobation and additions to it. 'Religulous' is not a word, it is black humor and a sadistic means of calling all religion ridiculous. Bill Maher's talk show, in my opinion, is offensive and ridiculous.

Is faith in God religiulous?

"Religulous" is a blended word (portmanteau) of "religion" and "ridiculous," popularised by Bill Maher's documentary {Religulous}, used to describe religious concepts, practices, or people as absurd, silly, or illogical, often with a critical or satirical tone. It's not a formal dictionary term but a colloquial one that highlights the comical or nonsensical aspects of faith.

Comedian Bill Maher popularised the term with his 2008 film of the same name, which mocks organised religion.

He even went on to say that Jesus did not exist.

Note: What both these persons have said:

The historian H. G. Wells said that a man's greatness can be measured by 'what he leaves to grow, and whether he started others to think along fresh lines with a vigour that persisted after him.' Wells, although not claiming to be a Christian, acknowledged: "By this test Jesus stands first."

Napoleon is reported to have said: "Jesus Christ has influenced and commanded His subjects without His visible bodily presence."

Also, the reference work, The Historians' History of the World, observed: "The historical result of [Jesus'] activities was more momentous, even from a strictly secular standpoint, than the deeds of any other character of history. A new era, recognised by the chief civilisations of the world, dates from his birth."

7 key points about faith:

1) It is impossible to please God without faith,

2) Jesus notices people's levels of faith,

3) Faith moves God to act,

4) Faith strengthens people during trials,

5) Faith fuels actions,

6) Others can be encouraged by strong faith,

7) Faith is the foundation of salvation.

Psalm 14:1 sums up people who do not believe in God:

Psalm 14:1 ESV: "The fool hath said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, they have done abominable works; There is none that doeth good."

Referring to Psalms 14:1, Dr Hastings sums up, "Counting on this absence of God from the world and on impunity, men become corrupt and do abominable deeds. They openly embrace ungodly principles and discount a personal God to whom they have no wish to be accountable. But such thinking is as foolish and senseless today as it was when the psalmist wrote his words over 3,000 years ago."

What kind of person is this fool, the man who denies the existence of God?

He is not intellectually ignorant. Instead, the Hebrew word na·valʹ points to a moral deficiency. Professor S. R. Driver, in his notes to The Parallel Psalter, says that the fault is "not weakness of reason, but moral and religious insensibility, an invincible lack of sense, or perception."
