In my humble opinion the spirit of fear is the main battle weapon of the evil one’s kingdom which he employs to enforce his will upon any who may fall to it’s wicked spell. His simple plan is to get you to believe [accept his delivered package of lies; as true]. And IF you open said package his plan starts to unfold within your life and in those around you.(Luke 8:18; Colossians 4:5) On this ever changing landscape ruled in fear and confusion, vain, narcissistic puppet like intelligentsia scamper about as spoiled frightened children proclaiming one truth in the morning and then before the setting of the sun, the exact opposite all done without any known logic or wisdom.(2 Corinthians 11:15; Ephesians 6:12) All that is seen in this realm is deception (coin of this realm) driven by it's prince as his evil juggernaut crests every ridge line and descents into once peaceful valleys leaving destruction and death in its wake. (Luke 22:53; 2 Corinthians 11:14; Galatians 1:8) The complete Word of God when read and lived is really our only needed protection in this on going cosmic battle raging between the two kingdoms. (Psalms 91:1) There is no book written by man or any of his fanciful systems aside from this truth that will be of any help; when all that can be shaken, will be shaken, so that what can’t be shaken will stand. (Hosea 5:4) And during our midnight at noon battles, the Lord is at our side, standing with us in that lonely valley, and whether we live or die is gain, for as His warrior servants; we will do either very well. (Mark 9:49; 2 Corinthians 4:1) The priority for the body of Christ is to, first understand that a cosmic spiritual battle rages between the kingdoms of Light and darkness and second; we are soldiers and warriors in that army of Light with great and mightily deeds before us still to be done. (2 Corinthians 10:5) Bottom line: First be aware that there is a battle raging, then armor up and take your position on the battle line; now troop forward and to God be the glory. (Ephesians 6:11; Galatians 6:5.) The road before us has many tribulations, boring it will not be, but be of good courage; my beloved brothers and sisters for we have a promise note in hand from ONE Who can not lie. (1 Corinthians 16:13) In the Lord's freedom always FEARLESS.............warrior on
Although acts of terrorism are increasingly beaming a worrisome problem, we should not be overcome with fear. Killing and destruction is only a secondary intent of terrorist acts. The main intent of terrorism is to create fear and paralyze people with anxiety about their perceived lack of safety. As the name imply, terrorists intent is to create terror in people’s hearts and remove any reasonable expectation of safety. Not to minimize the gravity of terrorist acts, but in reality and statistically, only a small number of people are victimized by terrorist activity. Without creating additional anxiety, and only for a frame of reference, it is worth mentioning that in USA alone every year over 37,000 people die in road crashes and an additional 2.3 million are injured or disabled. Furthermore, over 31,000 people die yearly from gun violence and more than 38,000 Americans die of drug overdose. For comparison, the 9/11/2001 terrorist attack, the largest in USA history, caused the death of less than 3000 people. I’m careful not to offend anyone’s sensitivities, but the chances of injury or death in a terrorist attack are a lot smaller than a number of many mundane activities. As Christians we have to take hold of God’s promises and have faith that He is guiding and protecting us in our daily walk. The Bible holds over 5000 promises that God is offering to His children. Having some of these promises memorized can be a great source of comfort in times of stress and anxiety. Here are listed just a few of them: Psalm 91:7; Psalm 91:14-15; Deuteronomy 31:8; Genesis 28:15; Proverbs 3:5-6. Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10.
I believe that so much as asking these sort of questions helps to stoke a furnace that has been burning with the unwitting help of the church for far too long. We need to keep our focus on those things that are lovely, and the goal of the believer. These questions are for secular society. We are merely sojourners in the land. I guess that it would be applicable here, to say, "Let the dead bury the dead". Yes it sounds heartless. But was Christ heartless when said it to the young man, who only asked time enough to bury his father? Now wait a minute... Do we just turn a blind eye to what is going on? Of course not. We are to pray. I think it is Charles Stanley that says it best when he tells us to fight all of our battles on our knees, and leave the consequences to God. These terrorists perform their attacks under a banner of holy war. Well, it doesn't take a genius to realize that there is nothing holy about it. This is a great sign that there is some demonic force driving this sort of event. Our job is to love our neighbors. It is not to help stoke the furnace. We can take rest in knowing that God is in complete control, and those who love Him are always under the divine guidance of Him that lives in the believer. I hope that helped. I love you, as do all of the brethren.
Great question you asked, Grant! I read a lot of persecution.com materials (Voice of the Martyrs), and believe there's a real solution! I believe we should trust what Jesus said to His followers: Matthew 10:28 King James Version 28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Also, I am just learning Psalm 27:1 in the Message Bible translation, more of a paraphrase version, by Eugene H. Peterson: Psalms 27:1 MSG "Light, space, zest— that’s GOD! So, with him on my side I’m fearless, afraid of no one and nothing." Romans 8:31 MSG: "So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose?"
