The Book of Mormon was actually an imaginative novel named "Manuscript Lost", written by Solomon Spalding in appx 1812, and was stolen by Sidney Rigdon from the printers. Many eyewitness accounts of the plagiarism survive: http://www.mormonsinshock.com/Origins.htm Not everyone has the gifting from God to sort through all the historical accounts, evidence, etc, etc, etc. It boils down to this. ANYONE who comes to you and says you need ANYTHING ELSE BUT THE BIBLE is to be avoided!! That makes it very simple. That even includes many "evangelical" preachers who say things like, "this is a must-have book for every Christian". Nonsense! You want a must-have book? Romans. 1 Timothy. Mark. Psalms. Revelation. To name a few of the 66 "must-have" books! Or the preacher who says, "this critical tape series is yours for the low donation of $49.99". Or any preacher/teacher who says that you have to understand MY interpretation, especially if that interpretation is complicated and ends up not being the plain meaning of Scripture that any 3rd-grader can understand. There are things in the Scripture that are "hard to understand". Satan and his ministers specialize in twisting those "hard to understand" things, giving answers that seem to make sense but end up leading people to strange doctrines. Who knows when the next cult with the next book or strange interpretation will come along? If they will just study the Scriptures, fine. But if they insist that you cannot understand God's Word unless you "read our book" or "read our magazine", or "listen to our tapes", or "watch our TV program".....next. At thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar." Proverbs 30
The Book of Mormon is a dangerous book because it seems like its wholly Christian but is a lure to get you involved (indoctrinated) so the LDS can feel safe enough to start teaching you their radical beliefs. Along with what Michael stated above there are other beliefs that are wildly un-Biblical like, God lives on a planet (or in a galaxy) named Kolob and had and has sexual relations with a woman (or being) named the Earth Mother. The best place I've found is a website named contenderministries.org which explains all the differences between Christianity and Mormonism, and there are many. I still can't believe that a Mormon actually ran for the Presidency of the United States and received votes from a very large number of Christians. One can only hope those voters were uninformed and thought LDS was another denomination like Methodist or Baptist.
The Book of Morman and the Koran are people's imagination or portions borrowed from establish books like the Bible. When a book is Non-fiction like the Christian Bible it cannot be proved wrong. Satan will deceive a lot of people with different lies to take them with him when ever he is expel to the Lake of Fire after the millinium. The only way that a person will know the difference is believing in Jesus Christ, whom God sent to show us the Way, the Truth and the Life, and to right the Fall of Adam and Eve in the beginning. If you know Jesus Christ, then you know God because they are one with the Holy Spirit.
Book of Mormon's resembles the Book of Qur'an in the Muslim Religion as its writing is about the same. Mohammad wrote the book when he was in Babylon after getting kicked out of the his town before the war. An Angel gave the book to him on a GOLD TABLET which he copied and included about 1/3 of the New and Old Testament in the form. That is exactly the way the book of MORMONS was written as an Angel gave the form to him under the Tree on a GOLD TABLET but Mohammad was in a cave. There is a great deal more here that can be discussed that makes the Mormon and Muslim look like the same form.
