Sinai Law exposed everyone as sinners. (Rom.3:19-20). Jesus came and defeated sin. (Heb.9:26). This was not done through a set of regulations. It was accomplished by the finished work on the cross by Jesus Christ (Rom.3:21-26). God' s purpose was all along to open the door of His Kingdom to all humans. This was done by the finished work on the cross by Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is the Messenger and Mediator of the new covenant (Heb. 8:6; 12:24). He is also the sacrifice — he himself is the new covenant. The new covenant has phenomenal promises, and all who believe them are counted as righteous. Our relationship with God is based on the new covenant. God takes away our sins (Rom.11:27).

No one obeys Law perfectly. Everyone breaks the law. Law cannot give life (Gal.3:21, 10-12). It was never meant to be a means of salvation. All it can do is condemn us. So what was its purpose? It was added because of transgressions.

“Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law” (3:25).By establishing the new covenant, Jesus set aside the first covenant (Heb. 10:9)

No one can be declared righteous by observing the law (Rom. 3:20). The law cannot give eternal life.

Christians today have a new relationship with God — a covenant based on faith, a faith that is willing to obey God.

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (3:17). We are forgiven and freed from old covenant regulations, and we now serve Christ by living according to the new covenant.

The new covenant is not like the old covenant (Heb.8:5); the people are able to meet the conditions of the new covenant.

Christ set aside the first covenant when he established the second (Heb.10:9); the old is obsolete (Heb8:13).

I once again reiterate that we are under grace and we are no more under Law. The law has already been superseded.

The Scripture makes it abundantly clear that the Ten Commandments (TC) is God’s Law, His work (Exodus 32:16); His Law is perfect, holy, eternal and will not change or be erased (Psalm 19:7-10, 89:34; Matthew 5:18; Luke 16:17; Romans 7:12).

God’s Law is not temporary; it’s permanent, perpetual, and eternal (Psalm 119).

Jesus Himself tells that the Law is eternal and He did not come to abolish it (Matthew 5:17). And not only Jesus did not abolished the Law, He magnified it by teaching not only the letter, but more importantly the spirit of the Law (Matthew 5:21-28).

Christ summed up the TC in two commandments; love for God and love for neighbor (Matthew 22:36-40). Obeying the first four commandments means to show love for God, while obeying the last six is to love your neighbor (Psalms 40:8).

Christ did not come to alter or abolish the TC and gave Himself up to bear its penalty although He had never broken the law. He bore the penalty for us (Galatians 3:13-14).

The Bible says that when we sin we transgress the Law (1 John 3:4) and transgressors of the law will not inherit the Kingdom (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Revelation 22:14).

Furthermore, in order to be forgiven of our sins we must confess them and ask forgiveness (1 John 1:9; Hebrews 9:22). But how can a sinner confess and be forgiven if he/she believes the Law was abolish and we are free to break the Law in Christ freedom? An adulterer cannot be forgiven if he/she believes there is nothing wrong with adultery because the 7th commandment was abolished.

Law points out sin, but has no power to save from sin. There is no cleansing grace in the Law. All the works of all the laws would not be sufficient to save a single soul. We are saved by grace through faith, as a free gift (Romans 3:20; Ephesians 2:8; Galatians 2:16).

However, now that we are saved by grace, we cannot keep on sinning (Romans 3:31, 6:14-15). This is not legalism, just doing what God asked us to do (John 14:15; Matthew 7:21; Revelation 14:12).

Yes! God's Ten Commandments are everlasting, a law of love, defining sin.

1. Loyalty: No other God's. Demonstrate love.
2. Worship: Prohibits worship of images. Demonstrate love.
3. Reverence: Respect His holy name. Demonstrate love.
4. Remember the Sabbath, His holy day. Do good. Demonstrate love.
5. Love our parents by honoring them. Demonstrate love.
6. Respect for human life. Demonstrate love, not hatred, toward others.
7. Purity in relationships. Demonstrate love by not committing adultery.
8. Honesty. Do not steal. Demonstrate our love, don't steal
9. Truthfulness. Do not lie or deceive others. Demonstrate our love.
10. Contentment. Do not covet. Demonstrate love.

How well do we think we know this God of Love, the holy and righteous Creator of the universe. Whoever keeps His word, His law in his heart, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

God's law is ETERNAL Matthew 5:17-19 Christ declared the Ten Commandment Law of God would endure "till heaven and earth pass away."
