I am certainly no authority on eschatological issues. In my opinion, however, the Bible does prophetically refer to an individual who will come to prominence in connection with the events of the end times. Whether that individual will arise in a position of official power as a leader (either of a nation or a military force, for example), or as someone who attracts or influences people by other means (such as through the media) is a matter of debate. However, I think that the Bible describes this person as someone who will be uniquely aligned with the physical and spiritual forces opposing Christ, and who will seek to bring others under the control of those forces, as well. This individual is described in such terms as the following: "the lawless one"; "the one destined for destruction" (2 Thessalonians 2:3) "He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God." (2 Thessalonians 2:4) "uses all power, signs, lying wonders, and every kind of wicked deception" (2 Thessalonians 2:9) "will produce great signs and omens to lead astray, if possible, even the elect" (Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22) "whom the Lord Jesus will destroy with the breath of his mouth, annihilating him by the manifestation of his coming" (2 Thessalonians 2:8) Despite the power of this individual, he will ultimately be defeated (or, as indicated above, annihilated by Christ's second coming).
The Antichrist is described as a stern faced king, a master of intrigue(Dan. 8:23),a despicable person (Dan.11:21), a worthless shepherd(Zach. 11:16-17) and the lawless one (2Thes.2:8-9). He is not a nice person but millions of people will see him as a messianic figure. John saw the Antichrist, a world leader who rises to power because of his greats oratory skills and his winsome charisma. He will promise people everything a they want to hear but he will ultimately lead them into a bondage and death. With his winsome personality, persuasive oratory and skillful negotiating, he will be the world's ultimate problem solver. He will rise to power on a platform of peace and prosperity. Christians believe that thenAntichrist will come and rule the world. It will be a time of chaos and catastrophes, according to,the word of God and he will war against God's people. Satan is behind the Antichrist's rise to power and his subsequent actions(Rev.13:2). He will speak powerful, blasphemous words as Daniel predicted(Dan. 7:8,20,25).
In the vision given to Daniel in chapter 11 of the text attributed to said prophet, the King James refers to "the king of the North" which interestingly in The Living Bible paraphrased is interpreted as a succession Syrian kings. The amazing sequence of events in this translation seems to directly reference seemingly directly communism at one point even: 11:24 "He will enter the richest areas of the land without warning and do something never done before: he will take the property and wealth of the rich and scatter it out among the people. With great success he will besiege and capture powerful strongholds throughout his dominions, but this will last for only a short while." An earlier passage in this chapter famously predicts the rise of Alexander the Great and the conflicts between Persia and Greece. As I have specified this is in TLB (Paraphrased) which can be accessed through Biblegateway.com, there seems to be some kind of bid for power between Egypt and Syria over the holy land: 21 “Next to come to power will be an evil man not directly in line for royal succession.[k] But during a crisis he will take over the kingdom by flattery and intrigue. 22 Then all opposition will be swept away before him, including a leader of the priests.[l] 23 His promises will be worthless. From the first his method will be deceit; with a mere handful of followers, he will become strong. 24 He will enter the richest areas of the land without warning and do something never done before: he will take the property and wealth of the rich and scatter it out among the people. With great success he will besiege and capture powerful strongholds throughout his dominions, but this will last for only a short while. 25 Then he will stir up his courage and raise a great army against Egypt; and Egypt, too, will raise a mighty army, but to no avail, for plots against him will succeed. 26 “Those of his own household will bring his downfall; his army will desert, and many will be killed. 27 “Both these kings[m] will be plotting against each other at the conference table, attempting to deceive each other. But it will make no difference, for neither can succeed until God’s appointed time has come. 28 “The Syrian king will then return home with great riches, first marching through Israel and destroying it. 29 Then at the predestined time he will once again turn his armies southward, as he had threatened, but now it will be a very different story from those first two occasions. 30-31 For Roman warships[n] will scare him off, and he will withdraw and return home. Angered by having to retreat, the Syrian king will again pillage Jerusalem and pollute the sanctuary,* putting a stop to the daily sacrifices, and worshiping idols inside the Temple.* He will leave godless Jews in power when he leaves—men who have abandoned their fathers’ faith. 32 He will flatter those who hate the things of God[o] and win them over to his side. But the people who know their God* shall be strong and do great things. BUT BY GOD IN CHRIST JESUS THERE IS HOPE AMIDST PERSECUTIONS. 33 “Those with spiritual understanding will have a wide ministry of teaching in those days. But they will be in constant danger, many of them dying by fire and sword, or being jailed and robbed. 34 Eventually these pressures will subside, and some ungodly men will come, pretending to offer a helping hand, only to take advantage of them.
Second Thessalonians 2:1----- The man of sin, the antichrist will not come until the falling away first. We will depart from the earth to meet the Lord in the clouds before the son of perdition is revealed. The falling away, or apostasy, is the rapture of the church, the body of Christ. The bodily departure to heaven. Apostasy is used several different ways in scripture, the same as repentance. In this case it is the departure of the saints to heaven before the son of perdition is revealed. The antichrist. We will not know who he is because we will be taken out of the way. Depart from the earth to be bodily changed to the likeness of Christ. First Corinthians 15:51-53 and First Thessalonians 4:13-18. The falling away, the departure, the rapture will come before the son of perdition is revealed. We can speculate, but the bible says we can not know who it is. We know it will not be Bill Clinton, because it says he will not be desirous of women.
