The first fruit offering does not apply to us Christians. However God would like us to be his "First fruit offering" every day, starting out each day by reading the Bible, a few verses at least, and praying to him. In other words spend some time with him. As a dear Pastor friend of mine once said, "We are the offering to God. Sadly we keep crawling off of the Altar. So, start and finish each day with a bit of study and worship, that is what God wants from us. One last thing, the Bible states; Don't just read the word, do what it says.

A mango tree was planted in my church that did not bear any fruit. Church members and friends said this is unusual and suggested we should cut down this tree. A number of us suggested we pray and give this tree another year of life.

After one year, some flowers bloomed and eventually we had the first fruits from this tree. As a church, we decided to offer all these first fruits to the LORD by giving to the poor in the community. After half a year, the tree bored more flowers that anyone can imagine. The fruits came eventually and it was more then we can count.

We continue to offer a tenth portion to the poor plus enjoying the fruits among members and friends. However, after a few years, one day the Agricultural Dept from the Government visited the church and told us this mango tree is a very unique and rare mango species not found in the country. They asked our permission to have the tree for research. We agreed, they took the tree away. Because this experience, whenever we grow any fruit trees, we offer the first fruits to the LORD and the LORD has miraculously blessed these efforts every time.

O taste and see that the LORD is good!
