I would say that Jesus Himself preached the gospel of the Kingdom of God (as indicated, for example, in Matthew 4:17 and Mark 1:14-15) during His earthly life (although He also gave indications of the ultimate sacrificial purpose of His incarnation, as in Mark 10:45 and John 3:14-15). It would have been this preaching that led the apostles to believe in or expect His establishment of a glorified earthly kingdom of Israel that would replace the Romans (although that was not the kind of Kingdom to which Jesus was referring). Also, if Israel had accepted Him as the promised Messiah at His first coming, who knows what might have resulted?

The gospel of Christ was preached by the apostles after Jesus had died, been resurrected, and ascended back to heaven. It was only then that Jesus' death (which had seemed to the apostles at the time to be a defeat) became "good news", since He had fully accomplished the means by which those who had faith in Him could receive the same eternal life that He now possessed. (And, of course, it is also by the preaching of the gospel of Christ that the extent of God's Kingdom is now increased.)

I fully align myself to the answer proffered by TIM Maas.

I am of the opinion that more scriptural evidence will be necessary to show that what Jesus preached and taught was the Gospel (that is, good news) concerning the kingdom of God.

Not only did Jesus preach and teach about the Kingdom, he also trained his apostles to do the same work. And, interestingly, Jesus' parables or illustrations centered around the subject of the Kingdom of God! Furthermore, Apostle Paul was said to be fully engaged in the preaching of the good news of the kingdom.

Finally, Jesus directed his modern day disciples to also preach that same message of the Kingdom during the last days (or time of the end), that we are in now.

Here are some scriptures in support:

Luke 4:42-44. "And when it was day, he came out and went into a desert place: and the multitudes sought after him, and came unto him, and would have stayed him, that he should not go from them. But he said unto them, I must preach the good tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for therefore was I sent. And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee (ASV).

Luke 8:1. "And it came to pass soon afterwards, that he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good tidings of the kingdom of God, and with him the twelve (ASV).

Matthew 10:5-7. "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and charged them, saying, Go not into [any] way of the Gentiles, and enter not into any city of the Samaritans: but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand (ASV).

Mark 4:26. " And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed upon the earth (ASV).

Luke 9:62. "But Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:62 ASV).

Mark 4:11. " And he said unto them, Unto you is given the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all things are done in parables (ASV).

Luke 9:11. "But the multitudes perceiving it followed him: and he welcomed them, and spake to them of the kingdom of God, and them that had need of healing he cured (ASV)

Matthew 24:14. "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come (ASV).

Acts 1:3. "To whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God (Acts 1:3 ASV).

Acts 8:12. "But when they believed Philip preaching good tidings concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women (ASV).

2 Thess 1:5. "which is] a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God; to the end that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer (ASV).
Acts 19:8. "And he entered into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, reasoning and persuading [as to] the things concerning the kingdom of God (ASV).

Acts 28:23. " And when they had appointed him a day, they came to him into his lodging in great number; to whom he expounded [the matter,] testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening (ASV),

Acts 28:28. "And he abode two whole years in his own hired dwelling, and received all that went in unto him, preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, none forbidding him (ASV).

The good news of the kingdom actually coincides with the good news about Jesus. He is the one that God has chosen to head the Kingdom. The kingdom is the agency that God will use to fulfill his loving purposes for mankind, and bring to nothing the works of the Devil. Only humans who believe in and worship God through Jesus will be allowed to live under the kingdom.

Rene, good question! As far as I know, the phrase, "the gospel of the kingdom," occurs only twice in the Bible. It is in:

Matthew 4:23
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. (both according to Nave's Topical Index)

Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations; and then shall the end come.

The latter verse, Matthew 24:14, is paired with Revelation 14:6 and is sung beautifully online only (as far as I can tell) by Sabrina Hew here:

The word gospel means good news. So when you apply it to the kingdom or Jesus you are saying Christ preached the good news of the kingdom and the good news of Christ. The good news of Christ is that there is salvation through him. The good news of the kingdom is the end result of what Christ has brought us into. Many times people don’t realize what the kingdom of God is. But the apostle wrote the following in Romans 14:17: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
