Unless you are a new Christian or newly married, why wouldn’t you want to serve? We are the body of Christ, the church we were made to worship, praise, and serve. We all have abilities that the church needs. When we serve we are doing so unto the Lord. As we serve, we are serving the people that are God’s point people for the church. We should never be serving to boast about ourselves. We should be serving so that the appointed people of God can do what they called to do and not worry about or concerned about thing not being taken care off. Pastors, elders, deacons, - we should be hold up the hands off these fine folks, not just sitting back and waiting for them to serve us.
Romans 12:1 speaks of offering your bodies as living sacrifices, which is your spiritual act of worship (some versions render it as spiritual service). It was Christ's intention that believers function like a body, with some acting as arms, some as feet, some as eyes, and some as ears, each working together for the good of the church body (1 Cor 12:12-27). He also gave each believer one or more spiritual gifts (1 Cor 12:4-6), to be used for the edification of believers. To do nothing in the church is to act against Christ's design and the instructions of the Word of God.
1. Serving in a church makes us feel better and helps us be closer to God; 2. It shows God our faith instead of just saying, "I’m a Christian." God wants us to show him how much we love him and show how much faith and belief we have in him. Saying it doesn’t mean anything, but showing it is everything. Actions speak louder than words. When I’m in church every Sunday, I feel so amazing, to stand there and sing to the Lord, and to listen to what the Lord has to say to us is the best feeling in the world. Plus we are supposed to put Christ first over everything. God wants us to go to church and let our faith and love to grow stronger and stronger each day. Being around other Christians and believers keeps us positive.
