To Pray in the Spirit

I will draw my answer from 2Pe 1:21 BSB For no prophecy was ever brought about through human initiative, but men spoke from God as they were carried along (moved) by the Holy Spirit.

The word "moved" carries a weight. For instance, it means "to carry some burden" "to be moved inwardly", "prompted," "driven," and since we have the Holy Spirit in us (2Cor 1:22, Eph 1:13, Eph4:30 and Rom5:5) we can receive true burdened inspirational, promptings and guidance as to what to pray about from within.

The Old Testament prophets did not speak in tongues (if tongues are hinted) but they under the guidance of the Holy Spirit spoke, uttered and wrote the word of God. We can now, because we have the Spirit of God, pray accurately if we have perfect love for our neighbor (James 4:3) and are in obedience to Jesus Christ our Lord's commandments.(John 15)

In this state the Holy Spirit will convey the accurate will of God, request (1John5:14) to the Father by assisting the weak or strong believer's prayer request. So the prayer in the Spirit will be passionate, spirited, urgent, fervent, strong, forcible, powerful, emphatic, vigorous, intense and earnest.

I would say that praying in the Holy Spirit does not refer to the precise words we are saying. Rather, it refers to how we are praying.

Praying in the Spirit is praying by means of the Spirit, and with the help of the Spirit. (Romans 8:26 says, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”)

It also means praying for things that the Spirit leads us to pray for (that is, according to the Spirit's will), and praying in the power of the Spirit, with the confidence and boldness in the direct access to God that the Spirit provides.
