There are so many books on how to pray, what to pray, when to pray. I thought was supposed to be between you and God and be a sense of humility going to the father. This becomes confusing.

The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray. He said "After this manner therefore pray ye:" and the words of the "Lord's Prayer" follow. If the KJV wording is correct, "After this manner...". What follows is an outline of things that should be in your prayer. Some people might spend hours acknowledging God, "Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come, they will be done on earth as it is in heaven". The rest of the petitions Jesus gives are really just names of topics people should acknowledge and talk over with God. To me it is really as simple as that.
