I would say that any love that humans receive from God is a totally undeserved gift of pure grace and mercy on His part (Ephesians 2:8-9). As Isaiah said, all our righteousness -- even our best attempts to achieve it through our own efforts -- is as filthy rags in God's sight (Isaiah 64:6). Apart from saving faith in Christ, no human can claim any act or attribute that results in being worthy of God's love.

When God created Adam and Eve they deserved his love as his beloved creations, pure and sinless.
When they rebelled by going against His commandment not to eat the forbiddern fruit everything changed.
They no longer desrved his love and neither do we.
All the love that God has for us is purely undeserved and only
granted by his grace. Love and mercy.
These attributes of God led to His sacrificing His only beloved Son, Jesus Christ, as atonement for sins.

Nothing short of the blood of Jesus could ever be enough sacrifice for the sins of humanity.
Just thinking about this should make us appreciate the meaning of agape love, unconditional undeserved love.
The big question for me is since God does not need anything from us, what can we do to show our appreciation a nd thanks for His love?
Any suggestins or help on this one will be much appreciated.

We are not worthy of God's love due to our sinful nature, but God's love is eternal. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16

God wants all humans to have eternal heavenly life with Him, as He originally intended for Adam & Eve. But, humans become unworthy of God's love as we fall into sins thru our own free will. But, He will forgive us if we are truly repentant of our sins and He will embrace us with His love because He is our loving Father, as written in the parable of the prodigal son.
