Molek (also spelled Molech) was a heathen god whose priests practiced (among other things) the sacrifice (through burning) of the children of his worshippers. The passage cited in the question is describing God's displeasure with the way in which the Israelites had turned away from Him to worship this false god, and had also gone to extreme lengths -- to the greatest possible degree of separation from God -- to find other false gods whom they could worship.
