The first thing we need to understand about God's timing is that it is perfect, just as all of God's ways are perfect (Psalm 18:30; Galatians 4:4). God's timing is never early, and it's never been ...

God's will is easy to find and difficult to access at the same time. Its easier when we understand how much He truly loves us and that He is in control. After explaining salvation by grace through faith in Ephesians 2:8-9, Paul tells us what comes next in Eph 2:10, 'For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.' This is the easy part. God already has a plan for our lives. The difficult part is getting out of His (Jesus') way. We have to relinquish control to Him on faith, letting Him lead us every day in everything. We have to give up ownership of our lives and possessions to walk with the Lord and watch His will and timing unfold. Jesus Himself never did anything outside the Father's will. John 5:19 tells us, Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does." Also in John 5:30,“I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me." How can we think we know more than God about how to run our lives when Jesus Himself only did what His Father told Him? I am still practicing turning things over to Him. Its an every day, every minute, even every second endeavor sometimes but, I am getting better at it. Its easier when I realize He created everything and can do whatever He wants with those things so I really don't own anything at all. I hope this will help.
I don't think we are supposed to know, at least until the time comes, and then it will be obvious. Jesus said "But that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, but my Father only." In the book of Daniel and again in the book of Revelation the prophets were told to "seal up the book" and seal up the things said". Also Isaiah sid he could not read "for it is sealed." God's timing is in His hands. We just need to trust and have Faith. When he is ready to reveal His timing, no matter the subject, He won't have any trouble letting you know. To paraphrase Tennyson: "Ours is not to question when, ours is but to have Faith my friend."
There are a lot of glib things said about God's timing which are simply not in the bible. The implicit question here is about guidance, "How can I know what God wants me to do, and when to do it?" That question is easy to answer if you stick to only what the Bible says. It's very straight forward. What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8). And when are you to do it? Do it now and do it constantly. But what about all those other little things like what job to take? Or what person to marry? Or what book to read? Don't worry about them. Provided you do the main thing, God has given you enough spiritual discernment to work out the little things for yourself. Best wishes, Philip
