Malachi 3:1 - 18
ESV - 1 Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. 2 But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap.

I suspect this question will get a LOT of attention since many people have their personal pet projects, and there are many pastors and directors of various ministries using this site who could benefit from your contributions. So, here is a bit of advice since you seem concerned that your money goes to a truly good and worthy cause: 1) Think about what you would like your money to accomplish most. Different organizations/churches focus on different projects, serve different kinds of people, and abide by different parameters as to how they distribute funds. 2) Are you concerned that evangelism is a part of what your money is to accomplish? Some groups that offer practical help also emphasize preaching the gospel (Compassion International, a ministry that supports children living in poverty, is one that my husband and I support), and others are more geared toward only offering practical help (such as Habitat for Humanity). 3) Do your homework about how much of your money will go to admins and how much will actually be placed in the hands of those in need, if this is a concern to you. 4) If you have friends you trust who attend churches that seem solid, consider giving to one or more of those churches. 5) Since you don't attend a church and might look to online sources for spiritual growth, consider supporting an online ministry. I personally have supported blueletterbible.org. And in case people are wondering, eBible does NOT accept gifts since it's monetized. Okay, those are my two cents--bad pun intended!
