As indicated in the passage cited in the question, Obed was the son of Boaz and Ruth. He was the father of Jesse, and the grandfather of King David, and was thus also an ancestor of Jesus through both His mother Mary and His earthly father Joseph, according to Luke 3:32 and Matthew 1:5. Although there were other individuals named Obed mentioned elsewhere in the Bible (in 1 and 2 Chronicles), to my knowledge the only reference to the Obed mentioned in the passage cited in the question was in regard to his being an ancestor of David (and thus also of Jesus), as noted above.
Obed means WORSHIPER or A SERVANT WHO WORSHIPS. I.e. his name meant “servant,” in its full form possibly “servant of the LORD.” He was the son of Boaz, by Ruth, and better than ten sons to her, since through Obed she became an ancestress of Jesus Christ (Ruth 4:17-22; 1 Chron. 2:12; Matt. 1:5; Luke 3:32). He was born to a Jewish father and an Arab mother from what is now Jordan. Obed became the grandpa of Israel’s most venerated dynasty of kings. Obed’s grandson, David, launched a dynasty that lasted > 400 years—until invaders destroyed Jerusalem in 586 B.C.
