The word "kintsugi" refers to Japanese pottery that has been broken and is put back together with something more valuable than the materials comprising the original pot (often gold, platinum, or silver). That sounds pretty "Christian" in that we are broken pots (2 Cor 4:7), and that the valuable something gluing us back together could be thought of as a someone: Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.

Not having heard of "kintsugi" before, I googled it to see how other Christians use it. It seems like, in their usage, it is a harmless metaphor. It's always advisable to stay alert, though, whenever nice-sounding labels are tossed around and used to sell "packages" of ideas to us. Not all packages are created equal (1 Thes 5:21). :-)

When in doubt, pray for discernment. He will never fault you for asking (James 1:5).

It's unwise to use an item used in false worship, such as "kensugi" which is also a flawed theological analogy. We are not restored but made new creations at the new birth John 3:5-8. No need to resort to the use of idolatrous vessels to illustrate and preach the gospel. There are philosophies behind these vessels that we cannot align with, and Christ as well. The wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.

God warned the Israelites not to engage or copy the practices of the surrounding countries lest they also fall into sin. The Apostle Paul warns us of the same thing, repeatedly counselling the church to keep yourselves from idols; in fact, the Scriptures say "flee idolatry". I would not ever put an item from a "tea ceremony" in my home because we who have chosen to follow Christ are to also have the fear of the Lord that is wisdom.
