What lesson is Jesus teaching about pouring and giving in Luke 6:38?

Lk 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (NIV)

Luke 6:37 - 42

ESV - 37 Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

The actions that Christians take toward others that are in obedience to God's command for them to love their neighbors as themselves (especially with regard to bringing them to saving faith in Christ) -- and even (or especially) when involving personal sacrifice on the part of those Christians -- will be compensated to them in far, far greater measure -- if not in this temporal life and world, then in eternity to an extent and duration that will never pass away or end.

Conversely, those who are less generous in that regard will find their corresponding eternal reward to be smaller in proportion to the reduced degree of their own service and sacrifice.
