In my opinion, the redeemed in eternity will have "selective amnesia" about their earthly lives. They will recognize loved ones who are among those saved. However, there will be no memories associated with past sin, pain, sadness, or other earthly troubles. To me, this is supported by passages such as Isaiah 65:16-17 and Revelation 21:4. Such adverse thoughts would be incompatible with the eternal joy of being in God's presence, as well as with God's final judgment of sin.
