Having a personal relationship with God begins the moment we realize our need for Him, admit we are sinners, and in faith receive Jesus Christ as Savior. God, our heavenly Father, has always desire...

To me, this question is one that I have pondered many times since I became a 'newborn' child of God back in 1979. God teaches and impresses upon us to "seek Him daily, to seek His love and His guidance and "with Glad Tidings, we receive His blessings" -- all with complete reverence, respect and acknowledgement that He first created each of us, and has a place in heaven for each of us, if we "come to know Him as our personal Lord and Savior"! To know God truly and keep the focus daily on God's plans for us each is "seeking Him and His Divine and Holy directions that He has for us with His Holy Spirit's guidance!" He has a righteous pathway for each of His children. We need to understand this biblical truth and "seek Him in all that we do"! Spend time 'absorbing...meditating...understanding His "instruction book"! Allow Him to speak to your heart, mind and spirit by and IN His Holy Word! Knowing from His Holy Word that He knew me "before the foundation of the world" and "has a plan for my life, that is good and Holy and righteous" is of so much comfort and such a source of internal peace within my soul that sustains me on a daily basis! --Andy--
To have a personal relationship with God mean we have a relationship with God in private/personal, regarding all matters wich are qualified as personal matters/confidential (Mathew 6: 4; 6; 18) We may have a personal relationship with God because we were created by God as an image of God (Genesis 1: 26-27) and the Spirit of God dwells in us (Isaiah 61: 1-11; Luke 4: 17-21) Without having a personal relationship with God, we are just a living creatures (Ecclesiastes 3: 18-22; 12: 13-14).
In my opinion, personal relationship with God is same as personal relationship with the spirit of God (Holy Spirit), the third person in the God head, who is now in charge of the business of God in the world today= John 14:16-17. The interest of God for consultation with the trinity before man was created in His image is not only for dominion but also for relationship-Gen.1:28,Gen.3:8-9.Man broke the cord of relationship through disobedience-Gen. 2:16-17,Gen.3:2-6,but God's desire for relationship made Him champion a plea for reconciliation with man-Ezekiel 33:11,John 3:16,1st Tim.2:4. Since the only problem between man and God is sin(disobedience),baptism of new birth 1st Cor.12:13 therefore remains the only antidote for relationship. The condition for new birth (salvation) is basically two fold and not burdensome-Mathew 11:30.The first condition is REPENTANCE which implies turning away from ALL sin completely-Act 3:19,James 1:10, 1st John 3:4-5,1st John 3:8-9. The second condition is FAITH IN JESUS-Act 16:31,accepting Him as your LORD and SAVIOUR. As soon as these conditions are satisfied,His Spirit and His power dwells in you-John 1:12.To sustain this relationship however, there is need to run from sin-1st Thes. 5:22,Godly association 2nd Cor.6:14, Hebrew 10:25,Ecc.4:9-12. There is equally need to be addicted to prayers 1st Thes.5:17 and word study-2nd Tim.2:15,Joshua 1:8,1st Tim.4:12-13.His matchless, boundless grace will always be sufficient.
John 1:12 But as many as received Him, (the free gift of salvation by grace) to them gave he power, to become the children of God, even to them that believe on His name. Once we become a child of God by faith alone, we at a child of God for ever. If we live in sin, or disobedience, He chastens us as a father chastens His children. But He can never condemn us as believers. John 3:18. Once we have trusted Jesus as our savior, we are given eternal life. We can get out of fellowship with our heavenly father, but never our relationship to Him. We are a child of God forever. Since our works, good or bad, have nothing to do with our relationship, that never changes. When we are born in the flesh our earthly father is our father for ever. When we are born into Gods family by faith alone, we are a child of God forever. It never changes. So once we have trusted Jesus as our only savior, we are given eternal life, and God is our heavenly Father forever. But he does chasten those He loves. But only to bring us back into fellowship with Him. There are sins that if we stay in long enough, God will take our life, but our Spirit will be saved. First Corinthians 5:5. God can not deny Himself. When we are saved we are given His Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13 God can not condemn his own children because He sees His own Spirit in us. We have a relationship with our heavenly father forever because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross. John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me, will come to me, and ALL that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out.
