A prayer closet is time that you spend alone with God. Not saying a prayer so everyone can hear you. It is a simple as Jesus said when you pray go in and close the door. It is time away from the world and special time with the Father

I humbly submit that the prayer closet that was spoken of by the Lord Jesus to His fellow Jewish followers was well known to them, as a secret place of prayer for them.

That secret place is a garment, carried everywhere and called the tallit sometimes spelled tallith the Jewish prayer shawl sometimes referred to or translated as tent.

The tallit itself is a white rectangular piece of fabric. The four corners are also known as wings, on these corners of the tallit there are hanging threads with a single blue thread with very special knots called tassels (tzitzit) used to remember and count the commandments. Numbers 15:39

They were worn by Jewish men after their Bar Mitzvah 13th birthday, prior to their exile and dispersion from the land of Israel, they were worn daily and raised completely over their head as they would enter their prayer closet.

The word translated closet means “a private chamber.” It could refer to the store-chamber in a house. Our Lord prayed privately (Mark 1:35); so did Elisha (2 Kings 4:32ff.) and Daniel (Dan. 6:10ff.). Wiersbe

Our times in prayer are a place of reward. God, our Father, waits for us there, and his desire is to bless us. Are you faithfully entering your prayer closet to be rewarded by God?
