Rest was built into the Jewish calendar by God as part of their week, their seasons, their years and their centuries:
Exodus 23:12 Work six days, rest on the seventh.
Exodus 23:14-17 Three yearly Festivals: Unleavened Bread, Harvest First Fruits and Ingathering.
Leviticus 25:1-7 Sabbath Year: every seventh year
Leviticus 25:8-12 The Jubilee Year: the year after seven times of Sabbath Years = 50th year

“Rest” according to Nave’s Topical Bible is recommended by Jesus, Mark 6:31, 32; 7:24, with Matt. 8:18, 24.

"And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while..." - Mark 6:31

Come apart and rest a while!

There is a danger if we do not heed these words. Yes, time is short, and we must work with every muscle and fiber of our being to save others and hasten Christ's soon return, but not at the expense of our health and our connection with Jesus.

We should come aside from the cares and burdens of life, seeking time for rest and communion with God. Not for selfish gratification, but so that we can be refreshed and better prepared for future labor.

So dear reader, remember: Come apart, and rest a while. There is a hymn that says it all. 

[Mar 6:31] Come Ye Yourselves Apart

Come ye yourselves apart and rest awhile;
Weary, I know it, of the press and throng,
Wipe from your brow the sweat and dust of toil,
And in My quiet strength again be strong.

Come ye aside from all the world holds dear,
For converse which the world has never known,
Alone with Me and with My Father here,
With Me and with My Father not alone.

Come, tell Me all that ye have said and done,
Your victories and failures, hopes and fears.
