If Jesus is God, why on the mountain did God say that Jesus was His Son?

I understand also Jesus was transfigured, v2: "His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light." I know there is a trinity. I just have a hard time wrapping my head around it.

Matthew 17:1 - 27

ESV - 1 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.

I would refer the questioner to the words of the Athanasian Creed in addressing this question, as found at several sites listed on Google at: https://www.google.com/search?q=athanasian+creed+pdf&oq=Athanasian+Creed&aqs=chrome.2.0i433i512j0i512l9.7305j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

To understand this is to picture God as one great spiritual personality full of glory, and one that has abilities unlike all the created things. Out of this one personality, from inside of Him came out the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. So, when God says, "my Son", God is referring to Himself as a man in human flesh although not corrupted by human nature. Jesus is the Father and the Holy Spirit same as the Holy Spirit /The Father being Jesus Christ. See John 8:28,56,58... 'I am' compared to "I am that I am" (Exodus 3:14) compare verse 56,58 to Genesis 14:17ff, Hebrew 7:1ff. Jesus and the Father is the same, see John 10:30, John 14:6-11 and Revelation 1:9-20;Ezekiel 1:1-28.
