Aside from the specific statement in the verse cited in the question concerning the non-existence of the sea, to me, the idea of an ocean, unchanged from its present earthly form, would be incompatible with eternal life (whether that is regarded as in heaven or on the new earth described in Revelation). In this life and world, although oceans do contain multiple distinctive life forms, they also separate and divide, and provide no fluid for human or land animal consumption. In addition, they pose hazards with regard to navigation. To me, these would be impediments to the eternal, immortal fellowship of the redeemed on the new earth.
