Any generosity that humans may exhibit through the sharing of their earthly possessions (which falls under the heading of obedience to God's command that we are to love our neighbors as ourselves), and the spreading of the gospel message, pales in comparison to the generosity of God in making eternal life possible for sinful humans through faith in Christ. Also, during His earthly ministry, Jesus never exhibited a desire for possessions or material gain, but commanded His followers to use their resources to help meet the needs of others. Relevant passages include Matthew 5:42, Matthew 19:21, and Matthew 25:14-46.
