The Living Bible is a paraphrase of the Old and New Testaments. Its purpose is to say as exactly as possible what the writers of the Scriptures meant, and to say it simply, expanding where necessary for a clear understanding by the modern reader.

I remember when these green Bibles first came out in grocery stores because they were so popular. I love the paraphrase and have made many notes in my copies (I have 1 complete Living Bible and other New Testaments in this version). The Living New Testament is mixed in with other New Testament versions of which I have two.

Sample verse:

Hebrews 11:7 Living Bible -- "Noah was another who trusted God. When he heard God’s warning about the future, Noah believed him even though there was then no sign of a flood, and wasting no time, he built the ark and saved his family. Noah’s belief in God was in direct contrast to the sin and disbelief of the rest of the world—which refused to obey—and because of his faith he became one of those whom God has accepted."

Compare
Hebrews 11:7 King James Version
"By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith."
