Cain was the firstborn son of Adam and Eve. The account of his birth is found in Genesis chapter 4.
Cain had a brother named Abel, whom he murdered because of envy.
As a result, he became a fugitive and a vagabond on earth. Yahweh was gracious to him and put a mark on him, so that he would not be killed.
Cain went out from the presence of Yahweh, and dwelt in the land Nod ("Wandering") on the east of Eden.
He had a son and named him Enoch. He built a city and called it after the name of his son.
