You asked, How many different resurrections will there be? The answer you may receive from others may vary. We know that the first resurrection was Christ. We also know that Paul speaks of a resurrection at the sounding of the last trumpet. Then, Christ spoke of another resurrection when he spoke of the harvest. The following scriptures show us that each group with Christ when he returns is part of the first resurrection. Revelation 20:4: And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: Many individuals teach because they possess partial knowledge. Consequently, they have not fully comprehended the entirety of the scriptures. This is why it is crucial to seek your understanding from the Lord rather than from human sources.

There are 2 major, permanent resurrections for all humanity: the Resurrection of Life (for the righteous) and the Resurrection of Judgment (for the wicked). These are the two events Jesus describes as the future resurrections in John 5:28-29. Jesus is not just giving Bible trivia, although that may be fun. No! He is warning you and inviting you. Right now, you are living in one of two spiritual conditions: Spiritually dead – separated from God, even if you feel fine. Spiritually alive – forgiven, adopted, and guaranteed a place in the first resurrection. Jesus says in verse 24: "Whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me HAS eternal life." Not "might have." Not "hopes to have." HAS. Right now. The moment you believe. What could be better than this? NOTHING! And then He adds the most stunning promise: "He will not be condemned. He has crossed over from death to life." That means: If you trust Jesus today, you will never face the resurrection of judgment. Never. You will only rise to life. What are you waiting for? The same Jesus who raised Lazarus from the dead is standing in front of you right now, through these words, and saying: "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even if they die. And everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25-26) Jesus explained this to Martha, sister of Lazarus after Lazarus had already been dead for 4 days! Then He raised him! You don't need to clean yourself up first. You don't need to understand every Bible verse. You just need to believe in Him--that He died for your sins and rose again. Would you pray something like this right now? "Jesus, I realize I am spiritually dead without You. I believe You died for me and rose again. Right now, I trust You. Give me Your eternal life. Thank You that I will never face the resurrection of judgment. I cross over from death to life in this moment. Amen." If you just prayed that, you have been resurrected--spiritually, right now. And one day, your body will follow. That's the good news. That's the invitation. Today is the day of resurrection for you.
