Paul says in 1 Timothy 6:16, God “alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light.” However, in other places, Paul speaks of Christians being raised in “immortal” physical bodies (1 Cor. 15:53) and partaking of “immortality” through the Gospel (2 Tim. 1:10). But if God alone has immortality, then how can anyone else have it?

The immortality that GOD possesses comes from within Himself and not from an external source. He alone is eternal and the source of all that exists. Mortality is a consequence of punishment for sin beginning in the garden with Adam and Eve in disobedience to GOD, which is transferred to us. We all die physically, but through the gracious mercy and calling of GOD, we are redeemed through the blood of Jesus, and in repentance, we turn from our sin and live to please the Lord, casting off our will and adhering strictly to His will for direction and loving providence. In 1st Corinthians 15:53, it states that the perishable (our mortal bodies and souls) must put on immortality (that which can no longer perish) for GOD in His own nature is imperishable, for He had no beginning and no end, perpetually living. Therefore, never more to die but to live perpetually (2nd Timothy 1:10) in communion with JESUS, the Father, and Holy Spirit indefinitely.
