Think of the flood. There was an enormous amount of water ejected from subterranean sources at the time. Perhaps it's possible continental plates were forced in certain motions by the large volumes of water that were moving during that event. That would also explain mountain ranges like the Himalayas forming (by land masses crashing into each other at significant speed). I don't know the mechanics precisely. But I've seen enough evidence recently to strongly debunk popular (non-creationist) geologic theories.
