Simply put the evolutionists in their desperate attempt to explain away God and His creation have dreamed up punctuated equilibrium. Supposedly animals slowly evolve for millions of years without much change then all of the sudden, like a grasshopper that has been sitting quietly for a few moments all of the sudden jumps ahead several feet in one big jump, animals also "jump ahead" (evolve) in one generation. This "takes care" of the problem of "missing links" they are so wanting to find. In reality there are thousands of missing links in the evolutionary tree.
