The doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture is a fundamental tenet of the Christian faith. To say the Scriptures are sufficient means that the Bible is all we need to equip us for a life of faith ...

Sola Scriptura ("by Scripture alone") is the doctrine that the Bible contains all knowledge necessary for salvation and holiness. Consequently, it demands that only those doctrines be admitted or confessed that are found directly within Scripture or are drawn indirectly from it by valid logical deduction or valid deductive reasoning. Sola Scriptura does not deny that other authorities govern Christian life and devotion, but sees them all as subordinate to and corrected by the written word of God.

Sola Scriptura is a formal principle of Protestantism. It was a foundational doctrinal principle of the Protestant Reformation held by the Reformers, who taught that authentication of Scripture is governed by the discernible excellence of the text as well as the personal witness of the Holy Spirit to the heart of each man.

The doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture is unbiblical and is a biased assumption. Nowhere does it say that the Bible is sufficient. We can agree that scripture is "useful" (2 Timothy 3:16), but "useful" is not synonymous with "sufficient".

The doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture came as a response by the Reformers when they condemned all traditions of the Church (both good and bad). Failing to sort which traditions are bad before condemning it is a common mistake.

God has given us 2 sources of revelations: Oral form and Written form. St Paul calls us to hold fast to both. (2 Thessalonians 2:15) To say that only the Written form alone is sufficient is like closing one of our eyes - we see yet with no depth.
