I think the answer is yes, absolutely you should have insurance. The questioner didn't specify what type of insurance we're talking about, but insurance all around is a good and beneficial thing.

In some cases, such as auto, home, and very shortly health, it's part of the law and when the law doesn't directly contradict a command of Christ, we are to obey the law.

However, with regards to health insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance - if you can afford it, you should absolutely have it. As a husband and father, I see part of my role as the provider for my family. I make enough money so my wife can stay home with the children, but if something were to happen to me, my family would be in trouble after a year or so. Life insurance protects my wife and my children in the case of my death. Disability insurance protects all of us in the case of an incapacity, and health insurance protects all of us in the case of a catastrophic medical event.

I would be a poor steward if I didn't seek to protect my family against such potentially devastating financial events.

The Lord gives us wisdom if we ask for it...James 1:5 ... Wisdom gives us the ability to make wise decisions. I'm sure that in the majority of cases it is prudent and wise to have insurance.

It also helps us to fulfill the new command to "love each other"...John 13:34...To do unto others as you would have them do to you...Matt 7:12

If by my actions someone needs medical or financial help and if I don't have the means or the assets to care for them, insurance would be a wise and loving thing to have for their protection.

Insurance can be looked at as a way of putting others first. Thinking of an other's well being above yours...Phil 2:4

Praise the Lord!

My opinion is that Life insurance is lack of faith. When we put our trust and faith in The Lord- Lord will protect us till the end. We will not get unnatural death. Nothing happens to us until the natural death comes in old age. My opinion is doing Life insurance is doubting God's protection over our lives.

There are also Christian alternatives to traditional insurance, and at least one group I researched (maybe all) meet the individual mandate. So it's not a "all or nothing" proposition; there ARE a few alternatives. If I understand these groups correctly (I haven't researched them extensively), the group members help "share" the cost of other members' medical problems. This isn't to sell this idea or promote any business, but just for informational purposes.

I do not believe it is right to condemn those that are seeking Insurance. That said I do not believe it is right to force people to buy Health Insurance either.

I myself have been healed of epilepsy caused from brain damage from being hit by a car.I was under doctors care for years, and never was able to control seizures. Medications and hospitalization where their solutions that did not work.

I answered an alter call for healing 28 years ago and have not had one seizure and have brain scans that show brain damage is not present and no scar tissue.

Thru the years as I had health issues, doctors always had a hard time finding what exactly was causing my symptoms and would resort to surgeries.

As I spent time with the Lord more and more, I knew He was my healer. I saw Him as my physician and got better results and what's better, He never sent me a bill!

I have not seen a doctor in over seven years and in that time thru prayer, guidance and changes to my diet and lifestyle I have seen healing over and over again. I am now in better health than I have ever been. I am 50 years old and do not take one medication.

All this said for one purpose. If our hearts and mind are not fully established in this area of who is our healer, then trying to stand on Christian principals without faith is dangerous.

I think having little doubt and unbelief verses huge faith might just be the key to all this insurance verses no insurance. Does our Lord really provide all of our needs? Would that include our bodies staying well? Or receiving healing when attacked?

I know I am insured by my Lord Jesus in every way I need to be insured I have been without worldly insurance for nearly seven years.

This world has many ways it tries to offer us what God already has established for us. Could Jesus be the insurance that we can not find mentioned in the bible? I think so. We are in this world not of it.

I know God uses doctors but I still believe that is only temporary till we find The real physician, Jesus!

God Bless!

Firstly may I ask what is faith and what does faith entail? The scripture says anything which is not of faith is sin.

When one wants to buy a new car and he has not got all the finance can he claim and get it through or by faith. Even if one wants to buy a house, how is this financed? May I ask, would the finance company want some type of security to secure the money they are loaning or lending? They would like to insure the house or the car, who then pays for this insurance?

Would the company release the house or the car if you tell them that you have faith? Please may I explain, faith had to do with believing and acting on what you believe, that is what faith is.

Faith comes through hearing the "Word"....I find nowhere in the holy scriptures that you must believe God and take no insurance. Likewise no where in the Bible telling us to believe god for our next meal, rather the scriptures says if a man does not work he must not eat.

In this world there will be accidents and illness. If by accident we damage another car, imagine telling the owner of that vehicle that you are a man of faith and believe God will repair his vehicle. How long do you think the man must wait? If The owner of the damaged vehicle is not in the same belief as you, then what?...................Abraham waited for 25 years.....do you think people in this world will wait like Abraham.....?
