I live with sciatica, a degenerative shoulder, a degenerative kneecap, arthritis, IBS, and other ongoing pain. These daily struggles remind me that pain is part of living in a broken world.

Job said, “my flesh is so painful that it makes me pessimistic; my soul mourns over me” (Job 14:22). Jeremiah also cried out, “why is my pain unceasing, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed?” (Jeremiah 15:18). These verses remind us that suffering, whether physical or emotional, is a normal part of life in a fallen world.

Pain can wake us up to our need for God. Sometimes it serves as a warning, a way for God to get our attention and turn our hearts toward Him. Job experienced deep agony, and Lamentations confesses, “he has besieged me with bitterness and tribulation” (Lamentations 3:5). Even in the darkest times, God’s presence is near, and He cares deeply about our struggles.

Jesus entered our pain and bore it for us. Isaiah calls Him a “man of sorrows, acquainted with grief” (Isaiah 53:3). On the cross, He carried the weight of our sins and sorrows so that we could experience forgiveness and healing. Through His suffering, He shows that no pain is wasted and no sorrow is outside His care.

Pain is not the final word. Revelation promises, “he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore” (Revelation 21:4). For those who trust in Christ, every ache and sorrow will one day be gone, and eternal joy will replace all suffering. This hope gives strength to endure today, knowing a better day is coming.

Jesus invites you to bring your pain to Him. He said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). You do not have to carry your burdens alone. If you want, you can pray:

Lord, I cannot carry this pain on my own. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Please forgive me, take my burdens, and make me Yours. Amen.

The Bible promises that if you trust Him, “to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12). Pain may be part of life now, but in Christ, you have hope, comfort, and a future without sorrow.
