To put it in nutshell, general revelation is this:

God communicates with people

through his creation

Psalm 19:1-4 See also Romans 1:20 (verses Michael mentioned)

Special revelation is this: 

God communicates with us

through the Scriptures (the written Word)

2 Peter 1:20-21 See also Jeremiah 36:2; EEzekiel 1:3; Zechariah 7:12; 2 Timothy 3:16

Through his Son (the Living Word)

John 1:18; Hebrews 1:1-3 (Michael cited this). See also John 1:14; CColossians 1:15; 2:9
