We have only had a written word for the masses for about 150 years (advent of automatic typeset and automatic printing press). What did all the people do from Adam to Moses death? What did all the people of Israel and the rest of the world do when the scrolls were in the possession of the priesthood only in the temple? In the Christian era what did the people do when for about 1800 years the "church" only was in possession of the Bible? What happened when the Bible was printed. The "church outlawed its reading and burned some at the stack for doing so? Where did Abraham (Father of the faith) get such faith when he had no written word? Where did the Gentile King Nebuchadnezzar get his faith to be God's servant (Jeremiah 25:9, Jeremiah 27:6 and Jeremiah 43:10)? Where did the Gentile King Cyrus of Persia get the faith to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem (Ezra 1:1-4) so that he was called a shepherd of God (Isaiah 44:28)? The answer to all of these is they obeyed the voice of the Lord, Deuteronomy 28:1-68 tells us the only way God will bless us is to obey his voice daily. To follow Jesus I must give up my life when he "calls" (voice) me (Luke 9:23-24) and thus I have a covenant commitment to Father God and He to me. Two ways we encounter God 1) Jeremiah 29:11-13 Seek God's plan for your life with your WHOLE heart or 2) John 6:44 when Jesus said, " No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent me draws him..." In both cases look to Rabbi (Teacher) Jesus to teach you (John 6:48).,
No, you do not have to believe in the Bible to be saved, for the only Salavation is through Jesus Christ. The Bible does show you the nature of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible is the Word of God, given to man by the Holy Spirit so that we can know God and the Truth, the Life and way to Salvation, Jesus Christ.
