Christian youths should keep themselves in the company of other Christians to avoid the negative influences of media and promote good influence from their Christian peers. It would do well for parents to invite their children's friends over to know them better. My dad talked sense into my friends - I ended up listening to my father's advice echoed by my friends.
Youth need examples and mentors ones that are brought up in the Word.. that have a passion for them ..They are hungry and in need of direction not condemnation , Going to events that are directed primarily to youth such as Acquire the Fire, Youth for the Nations, and many other valuable events that may be used as tools to focus their minds to the knowledge of God. see other teens that have their hearts on fire but who also have gone thru the trials and pressures that we all go thru. With direction, they will learn the Word deep within their heart and learn to flee the enemy , renew their minds as Christ with scriptures and stay uplifted and become a light in the darkness of our world. My suggestion, would be take the time to love them , hear them and mentor them for they are our legacy , they are our new generation and army for the Lord.. Pour into them all the good and be examples of strong Faith..Show them the promises of God and how Faithful He is in our here and now.. not just in times of old. and in doing this we too stay on fire and immersed in the Word teaching them .reproduce disciples that hunger for Christ alone.
Students need to counteract the influences of culture with godly influences. Only God can keep them from being shaped by culture. This is also a big part of parenting. Parents need to help students learn to make wise choices and discern right from wrong. I don't think students need to segregate themselves from the world. If they do, how can they be a salt and light to it?
Needless to underecore the fact that youths all over the world are faced with hard decisions to make in every sphere of life. While recognizing that Christian youths together comprise a peer group, it is important to point out that theirs' is, without doubt, a peer group with difference because they share defined biblical values that can help them make reliable decisions in their daily lives. Having said that, I believe that Christian youths can benefit alot from St. Paul's counsel to Timothy as a Christian youth found in 2Tim2: 19-23. Christian youths are children of God by virtue of the fact that God knows them through Jesus Christ whose Name they confess. Calling upon all who confess Jesus' Name and speaking specifically to young Timothy, St. Paul gives three commands that can help youths to avoid bad influence from the media and peer pressure as they separate themeslves for God's holy purpose by turning away from wickedness (verse 19). This can be done in the following three ways: 1. By fleeing the evil desires of youth (verse 22) 2. By pursuing known Christian virtues (verse 22) 3. By resisting all foolishness and stupidity (verse 23)
We need to pray for our youth. We need to make church relevant and meaningful for them. They need activities so they can spend time with other Christians. Families with youth need to open their homes for other young people. The youth are active. We need to help them channel their activities.
"Let not Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." 1 Timothy 4;12. 1John 5:21"Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen."the The only way that youth or anybody will survive in this fallen world, is if we keep our focus on Jesus.! We need to keep our selves from idols and remain pure.
