I've done a little bit of research on eschatology my advice would be - to be fair to yourself and look at some other views on eschatology - for example the preterist view doesn't have as many dead ends as your dispensational view - it also follows bible hermeneutics - let scripture interrupt scripture - you might try reading the parousia by j. Stuart Russell - also even tho its not a complete preterist view the book written by david chilton called the days of vengeance I highly recommend to get you pointed in the right direction - if you read Matthew 23:37-39 and read on thru chapter 24 and then ask yourself what did it mean to those people who were listening Jesus to speak - also revelation 1:1 reads things which must SHORTY take place - verse 3 for time is NEAR verse 7 even those who PIERCED Him -and chapter 22 verse behold I come QUICKLY and verse 20 surely I am coming QUICKLY - ask yourself what did revelation mean to the people who were hearing it in the first century - I believe revelation is simply describing the destruction of the old system of worship instituted in the Old Testament and the birth of the new system found in christ Christianity 2 Corinthians 5:17 and one last thing you might look up is the word NEW in your strongs concordance

I believe we have to have a wait and see attitude. Taking a few things into account. 1) Mark 13:7&8 there will be many wars 2)1 Thes. 4:16&17 The Church has to be removed before any real revelations will come in to play 3) 2 Thes. 2:8 then and only then will he appear on the seen 4)Dan. 8:9 The antichrist will come from Greece, Turkey, Syria, or Egypt. But our focus should be on point 2 and the Great Commandment

I believe that the Syrian war is one of many of the birth pangs that we will see happening in our lifetime that will lead up to the rapture. We are already pretty much into the first three years of the Tribulations and this war could lead into the Gog/Magog war spoke of in Ezekiel. Even tho Syria is not one of the nations that go to war against Israel...they are allies with Russia and will mostly likely assist by association to the nations surrounding them. Simply due to the fact that it's a nation that at this very moment is, in part fighting for the takeover of power by the Muslim movement which is and always has been about destroying Israel.
