How can we bear good fruit as a believer? Trees are distinguished by the fruits they bear. For a tree to bear fruit it stretches its root deeper into the soil looking for water. It also stretches upward towards sunlight and it avails itself to fresh air. The believer must dig deep daily in the Word to deepen their root. The strength of a tree is determined by the strength of the root. The believer should be heavenly minded not worldly minded. He must seek to enjoy the light of Christ’s countenance daily and make the Sun of righteousness to shine upon his life. Worldly glory and fame is only but ephemeral and hardly brings real fulfillment. Finally, he must allow an atmosphere of peace around himself, not toxic atmosphere relationship wise. If the atmosphere is tensed whether at home, work or even in church, he should strive to diffuse it with love and forbearance. As all of these enhance the fruitfulness of a tree so they also do for a believer’s spiritual growth into a fruit bearing life. Make a tree good and its fruit will be good....Matthew 12.33.
