In secular terms it is known as "reaction formation" and "projection." The unbeliever cannot accept any suggestion that there is somehow something evil or wrong about him/herself, and so they PROJECT their feelings about it onto Christians, referring to them as judges. They react to what a Christian has to say by forming a defensive posture which takes the burden of guilt off their shoulders, placing it on the shoulder of the Christian as being judgmental. The wording "they are no better" implies that the Christians and unbelievers are equally "no better," which might apply in the secular world, but not in Christianity. The Christian is "better" in the Spiritual Realm because he or she is going to live forever. The unbeliever is doomed UNLESS he or she comes to know Jesus as Savior, Romans 10:8-13.
