Off hand I would say real men of Christ should behave like Christ;-) Read through the 4 Gospels to see how Christ acted and interacted. How did He treat people? The lost that sought God, He treated with love and compassion. The legalists who oppressed the people with rules and regulations, He treated a little more sternly while still speaking the truth. He healed the sick, both physically and spiritually. He was honest with everyone. But above all, everything He did pointed back to His Father to give Him the glory. He was obedient to His Father. His whole earthly life was spent doing one thing, pointing to His Father. So will a modern day real man of Christ miss the mark? Absolutely! But trying to live as Christ did is something we should do because we have the love of the Father in us. It is not something we do to earn this love. We treat others with grace and mercy because grace and mercy was first extended to us.
To avoid stereotypes, Christian men can follow the example of David. Though he had sinned on numerous occasions, God still called David a man after His own heart. Acts 13 22 After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’ Read more on: What should we learn from life of David?
