The Great White Throne judgement, where sinners stand in the presence of God, weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth, is one of the most awesome revelations given to man in the Word of God (Rev 20:11) John writes "then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.

The Great White lThrone judgement takes place after the Millennial reign is completed and is held in an intermediate place, between heaven and earth. This judgement does not occur on the earth because the earth is gone. It does not occur in heaven because sinners would never be permitted in the presence of a holy God.

There are two resurrections-the resurrection of the just and that if the unjust. The resurrection of the just takes place in three phases. The first phase was at Calvary when men came out of their graves and were seen in the city of Jerusalem. The second phase will be at the Rapture of the church. The third phase will be in the middle of the Tribulations, where martyred saints are taken into heaven.

All men, both righteous and unrighteous will experience a resurrection day. In John 5:27-29, Jesus Christ says that the Father "has given Him (the Son) authority to execute judgement also, because He is the Son of Man. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth--those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and this who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation".

John continues in Rev 20:12 to describe the Great White Judgement, saying, "And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged accordingly to their works, by the things which were written in the books.

Notice that God has two sets of books. John says, "and books were opened." There is first the Book of Life, which contains the name of every person who accepted Jesus Christ while they were on the earth. When the wicked dead approach the Great White Throne Judgement, God will first look for their names in the Book of Life. They obviously will not be there,

Then He will open the "books" that are His written records of every word, thought, and deed of the wicked dead. The result is given in verse 15: "And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire."

This is an eye opener from the Word of God and a few comments from JHM, concerning the Final Judgement of all Men/Women. If you have not received Jesus Christ, whom is the Way, the Truth and the Life, it is not too late to receive Him and escape the casting into the Lake of Fire.

As per John 5:24 - who so ever believes in Jesus and saved by his precious blood will not be subjected to judgement.

Jesus said: "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

The great white thrown judgement is for unbelievers. The judgement seat of Christ is for believers. John 3:18 Believers can no longer be condemned, unbelievers are condemned already, because they have not believed on the Name of the Son of God.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, HATH EVERLASTING LIFE, and shall not come into judgement, but is passed from death unto life. 

Believers will not got to the great white thrown judgement. Believers will be judged for their works for rewards in heaven. How we live as believers will determine our rewards in heaven.

But all unbelievers will be cast into hell. But, I believe hell will be a lot hotter for some than for others. 

Just the same as those who are saved my not have many rewards in heaven, but will be saved so as by fire. Their works may be burned up, but they shall be saved.

Your question: What happens at the final judgment?

We can only speak about what is explicitly stated in the scriptures. Any interpretation beyond that falls into the realm of speculation. 

The final judgment, known as the Great White Throne Judgment, will take place. Before it, three groups will appear: death, hell, and those in the sea.

Revelation 20:12: “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Before the Throne, three groups appear. What do they represent, and who are they?

Let’s first examine all those in Hell who were brought before the Throne. Scripture reveals their presence. They refused to heed Moses and the prophets’ warnings. This group also includes those who rejected Jesus. The information comes from the account of the rich man and Lazarus found in Luke 16:19.

God established a place for Abraham and all those who held faith and believed Moses and the prophets would be with him. 

When Jesus was crucified and rose from the grave, it is written he led captivity captive. They were held there until Jesus had gotten victory over death, taking them from the place where they were held.

The next group we see is death. Paul wrote the following.

Romans 5:14: “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression.” 

All those who have died from Adam to Moses, excluding those who were part of Abraham’s faith, have been reserved in this place until their appearance before the Great White Throne Judgment.

All of these individuals will be judged based on their actions. Those whose names are not inscribed in the Book of Life will be cast into the Lake of Fire, alongside those who resided in Hell.

Then, we are told that the third group emerges from the sea. Please understand that this does not refer to those who died and were buried at sea. The reason is that if you died at sea and your body is there, your soul would have either gone to Hell or you would fall into the category of Death.

If you died at sea before Moses, you went to the place called death. If you died at sea rejecting Moses and the Prophet and Jesus, you went to Hell. 

What about all those who were born without knowing Moses, the prophets, or Christ? Where did they go? 

It is written that those born into the world originate from the place called the sea. This is evident from the beast in Revelation, which has seven heads and ten horns; all of them that came came up from sea. 

Revelation 13:1: “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy."

The sea represents all those being born into this world. All those who have not known Moses or the prophets or Jesus when they die return unto the place called the sea, waiting to be judged at the Great White Throne Judgement. 

Those who are inscribed in the Book of Life will be spared the second death, which is to be cast into the Lake of Fire.

All those who are in Jesus will not be present at the Great White Throne Judgment to be judged. We see them returning with Jesus a thousand years before this final judgment.
