Another article said that we don't honor the Sabbath as a Sunday because of the accordance with the "7th day" but rather to celebrate the resurrection.

No. Bible days since Genesis begin at dusk and end at sunset.... evening and morning, the first day. Jewish Shabbat begins with the lighting of two candles at dusk on Friday evening, and ends at dusk on Saturday. Mary could not go to the tomb during Sabbat so the earliest possible time could have gone was end of Sabbat at dusk on Saturday evening where she found Jesus risen. On this particular weekend following the crucifixion it was Passover, which has an additional Shabbat, probably Thursday then the normal saturday sabbat.... followed on the Saturday evening by the Feast of First Fruits, the "day" Jesus rose from the grave... yes, Sunday beginning at around 6pm on our saturday. Bible records Mary finding Him in the garden already risen, very early, before dawn. This raises the question, if Jesus said He would spend 3 days and 3 nights in the tomb, that puts the actual crucifixion day back to at least Thursday, possibly Wednesday. Lets count backwards: (day 3 Sabbat Saturday, day 2 Friday, day 1 Thursday in tomb). That means the crucifixion was the day before, Wednesday, because the Roman soldiers were in a hurry to get the bodies buried before sunset. That gives us 3 nights in the Tomb: wed, thurs, fri night. So Jesus rose at dusk on Saturday
Yes. Please refer to Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:2,9, Luke 24:1, John 20:1,19. Even today, lots of folks refer to Sunday as the "Christian Sabbath." That is one of the hallmarks of the failure of Christians to rightly divide scripture (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) intended only for a Jewish audience under the Law in the Hebrew Bible, from the scriptures intended for a Christian audience (the Pauline Epistles). See Galatians 3:19-25. Sunday is not the equivalent of the Jewish Saturday and vice-versa. See as well Galatians 5:1, Colossians 2:14-17.
No when Mary Madeline returned to the tomb on Sunday morning before the dawn as scripture specifically says, Yahusha was already gone, he rose on Saturday evening
What day did Jesus rise from the dead? In doing some study I believe that it was on Saturday. Jesus had His disciples prepare for Passover. There is a High Day that is mentioned at that time. If that High Day was in the middle of the week, that would open the door for Jesus to be crucified on Wednesday. 3 days and 3 nights would be sunset to sunset. Nights would be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. 3 day would be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Jesus would have risen just before sunset on Saturday. Mark 16:9 which most people use to show that Jesus rose on Sunday could be miss translated. Greek was written with out punctuation. It was written as a string of words with out any punctuation. A number of translations read differently than the King James and other translations. One possible translation of Mark 16:9 is: Now, when Jesus was risen, early the first day of the week He appeared first to Mary Magdalene of whom he had cast seven devils. The commas split the sentence in two parts. "when Jesus was risen" just tells that He was risen, not when.
